Three centuries ago, Johannes Nolet started a distillery in Schiedam. Eleven generations later it still carries his name. Today, Carel Nolet Sr. heads the distillery. He is the sole owner of the legendary, secret distillery log books of his ancestors. Those log books served as the inspiration for the Jonge Ambachtelijke Ketel 1 Jenever, named after the original copper distillery kettle “Ketel 1”. This oldest family-run company of the Netherlands is conquering America with its Ketel One Vodka.

With a height of more than 42 metres, the Nolet is the
biggest mill in the world. The lowest floor of the mill is
1.7 metres beneath water and its base has a diameter of 15.5 metres. The masonry of the tower consists of close to 400,000 bricks. The aerodynamic blades have been designed to look traditional. In the cap, which is ten percent higher than the caps of the traditional Schiedam distilling mills, wind power is converted to energy which is then used in the distillery, for the production of Ketel 1 Jenever and Ketel One Vodka. NGup Rotor Blades performs the maintenance of these blades.
